THE BELLEVUE ASSOCIATION is a public/private partnership whose mission is to mobilize the private sector to aid the public sector in providing quality health care for all persons who need it.  The Bellevue Association, a 501(c)(3) organization, is dedicated to helping Bellevue Hospital Center continue and improve its commitment to caring for the health care needs of all New Yorkers, regardless of ability to pay.

      The key elements of The Bellevue Association's mission are:

• To make health care a right in our country, rather than a privilege.
• To support and sponsor projects and/or programs within Bellevue Hospital Center that will improve on the delivery of quality medical care.
• To enhance the physical environment at Bellevue Hospital Center for both patients and staff.
• To gather together men and women from all walks of life--medicine, business, government, and philanthropy--to assist the Association in carrying out its mission through political advocacy, fundraising, and project development.

The Bellevue Association has successfully raised funds for such hospital projects as:

• Emergency Department Multilingual Communications Project
• General Internal Medicine Healthcare Kiosk Project
• HI-IQ System for Interventional Radiology Patients
• Dr. Saul J. Farber Auditorium
• Therapeutic Comfort Garden
• Purchase of a MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imagining Machine)
• New front entrance
• Clothing for the Homeless Program
• Survivors of Torture Program
• Tuberculosis Outreach Program
• Birthing Center
• Women's Health Outreach Program
• AIDS projects.

Bellevue Hospital Center, the country's oldest public hospital, provides high-quality, compassionate care to every person who enters its door.  Since 1736, Bellevue has met the challenges of caring for New York City's neediest, and The Bellevue Association is committed to helping the hospital uphold its tradition of excellence both now and in the future.
